Introduction Sometimes when logging in to my Artix installation I’d get an array of dconf errors from multiple programs. i3’s status bar would not show up, certain programs like Codium would not launch, and the system would just behave in peculiar ways. dconf-CRITICAL **: 07:54:25.230: unable to create directory '/run/user/1000/dconf': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly. Checking logind would show that it was running, and loginctl list-sessions would list the session, but the /run/user directory would be completely empty. Any attempt to manually create the hierarchy would cause the new folders to get immediately and completely nuked. Restarting and enabling logind did not seem to have any effect. ...

Introduction After installing Artix with LXQT and runit on my NovaCustom laptop I was finding that many GUI applications were failing to run properly. When running them via terminal to see the error output there were all sorts of dconf related errors. These were related to issues in the /run/user/ hierarchy, such as the 1000 directory not being created. When trying to get it and elogind working properly the directories were just getting deleted if created manually. ...

Intro Artix’s installer runs fine on my mid 2010s Macbook Air, but on my early 2020s NovaCustom the Calamares installer was hanging at ‘Gathering System Requirements’ as soon as it opened. Rather than use the CLI installer for doing all the disk encryption and other setup, I chose to resolve these issues so that the environment is as identical as possible to my other laptop. Here’s how I ended up getting around it. ...

I discuss a concept I see pushed in a lot of media, including the recent movie The Running Man (2025). Freedom in a system of covert slavery comes from the inside. External anarchy requires internal monarchy, not the death of the ruling class. Murder is immoral and any system built on that will continue to be immoral. There will always be more evil people to replace the current ones if we do not educate each other first. Learn to live in ways that involve their systems less and less in your life, and achieve Freedom within yourself and your local community first, before trying to take it to the large scale. ...

EFT & Journaling These are the two most powerful tools I have found on my healing and spiritual journey. They are both simple yet effective. There’s not much glamorous about them either. You can light candles, set out crystals, burn incense or sage, do chants, and many other hippie / woo-woo type ceremonies if you’d like, but these techniques alone get to the core of what needs done. I have used them for narcissistic abuse, such as gaslighting, as well as undoing bad habits from public schooling. Life is a wonder, it has many lessons to teach. Sometimes it takes a blunder, in order to make the reach. Learning from your mistakes is not always the most comfortable; guilt, shame, worry, and other fear-based emotions may get in the way; it’s important though to remain stable. The world, with all its technological marvels and mechanical fascinations, has moved further and further from Truth. None of our creations last, they all fail and crumble. There is only one true Creation which holds True. The closer we are to It, the more Peace, Love, and Inner Beauty that we can experience. Nature provides abundance for all. It is a complexly simplistic system. One does not find monocrops, deficits, or slavery in Natural environments. Ingredients Ingredient Amount Water 4 cups Oregano 1/2 tsp X Thyme 1/2 tsp X Basil 1/2 tsp X Rosemary 1/2 tsp X Peppermint 1/2 tsp X Spearmint 1/2 tsp X Fresh Ginger 1/2 tsp Whole Clove 1/4 tsp If the X’d ingredients are pre-mixed, it would just be 1 tbsp. Directions Chop fresh ginger into bits. Smaller makes a better tea, bigger makes them more fun to snack on later. Crushing or juicing it may be a neat way to make the tea extra spicy. Add all ingredients to a pot. Want it stronger? Use less water, such as only 3 cups. Bring to a brief boil then let sit on low until ready to consume. Here’s something which can be a main, side, dip, sauce, or whatever! Ingredients 7oz bag instant refried pinto beans Natural Grocer’s 750ml or 4 cups of water Seasonings 0.5 tsp oregano 0.5 tsp thyme 7 cracks black pepper Double these for a bolder flavor. Directions Bring water to rolling boil. Add pinto beans and seasonings. Stir continuously until beans come to a boil. Turn off heat and continue to stir until beans are no longer bubbling. Allow to cool until desired texture / temperature is reached, 15-20 minutes. Stirring occasionally helps speed this up. Use a lid once the texture is where you’d like it. Beans may be used as soon as they’re the desired texture. If eating as a dip, also ensure the temperature is safe. Best used thinner for sauces and thicker for dips. If going on a pizza, keep in mind that the oven will help thicken the beans up even more. If used for pasta then ensure it’s about the same consistency as it should be served at. ...
